Patrick’s passing in 2009 has made this performance even more emotionally charged. The grace and heartfelt emotion they conveyed in their duet are a testament to the profound connection he shared with Lisa—a love that endured 34 years of marriage.
Their journey began in their teens, dancing at Patrick’s mother’s studio in Houston. They married in 1975, just after Lisa completed her training at the Houston Ballet Dance Company, and a few years before Patrick’s film debut in Skatetown, USA.
The couple spent the 1970s in New York, pursuing their dreams and building their careers in dance, eventually making their way back to the big screen together. In 2003, Lisa wrote, directed, and starred in One Last Dance, a film inspired by their own experiences as dancers, with Patrick by her side.
Although Lisa wasn’t part of Dirty Dancing, Patrick’s love for her was undeniable. He wrote the iconic ballad “She’s Like The Wind” for Lisa, later expressing that he was truly blessed to have her in his life.
Their 1994 World Music Awards performance stands as a lasting tribute—not just to their extraordinary talent, but also to the unwavering love they shared.
