After years of living with a bedroom that felt more like a forgotten corner than a restful retreat, my husband and I finally decided it was time for change. Our 9m² space had been stuck in the past for over twenty years—outdated furniture, peeling wallpaper, and worn-out flooring made it feel lifeless and far from the cozy sanctuary we both needed. Instead of turning to professionals, we chose to take matters into our own hands and transform it ourselves.
The first step was clearing everything out. We removed the bulky furniture, stripped the faded wallpaper, and pulled up the old flooring. As we stood in the empty room, we finally saw the potential hiding beneath all the clutter and age.
To create a space that felt both warm and airy, we chose a soft, creamy tone for the walls instead of stark white. It immediately made the room feel brighter without being cold. Wanting to add a touch of personality, we installed framed floral panels that brought in subtle color and became the room’s standout feature.
One of the most important upgrades was the bed. We invested in a high-quality frame with an elegant headboard that gave the room a sophisticated, timeless feel. Storage was also a key consideration. Even in such a small space, we managed to include a sleek wardrobe, a practical dresser, and a compact dressing table without making the room feel overcrowded.
The wardrobe, especially, surprised us with how functional it turned out to be. Its angled interior layout allowed us to store much more than expected, all while maintaining a streamlined appearance.
This renovation reminded us that with enough patience and creativity, even a small, outdated space can be turned into something beautiful and personal. The room now feels like a true reflection of us—a calm, welcoming place to rest and recharge.
