Diana, a 60-year-old housekeeper, spent an entire day searching for the perfect suit for her son, Arnold. His wedding day was approaching, and she wanted him to look his best. She didn’t hesitate to spend all her savings, not thinking about the cost—only about making him happy.
Excited to show him her gift, she walked into the house with the suit in her hands. “Son, look what I got for you,” she said with a warm smile. But instead of gratitude, Arnold looked at the suit with disappointment.
“Seriously? I can’t wear this to my wedding. I’m marrying into a wealthy family—I need something far more elegant. This looks cheap,” he scoffed.
Diana’s heart ached at his words, but she forced herself to stay composed. The pain deepened when he told her not to come to the wedding.
“Don’t come. Everyone there is rich. You’ll embarrass me,” he said coldly.
She retreated to her room, devastated. But no matter how much it hurt, she made a decision—she would not miss this day.
On the wedding day, she arrived with a special gift, an old ceramic vase that had once belonged to her late best friend. Before passing away, her friend had asked her to give it to Arnold on his wedding day.
As the ceremony ended, she approached him and handed him the box. He opened it and frowned. A simple vase? Confused, he looked at her. Then she took the microphone.
“Twenty-five years ago, before my best friend passed away, she entrusted me with this vase. It was a gift from her parents,” she said, her voice trembling. “I took in her son and raised him as my own. I devoted my life to you.”
She raised her glass. “Now, look inside. To your happiness.”
Arnold carefully opened the vase and gasped. Inside, hidden all these years, was a stash of money. His hands trembled as tears filled his eyes.
Overcome with emotion, he knelt before her. “Mom, I’m so sorry. Your love means everything to me.”
Diana smiled, gently touching his face. “You don’t need to apologize. I always knew you’d understand.”
At that moment, Arnold realized that true wealth wasn’t measured in money or status. It was in the love and sacrifices of the woman who had always been there for him.
