Sofronio Vasquez, the triumphant winner of The Voice USA, returned to his native Philippines to a hero’s welcome on the popular noontime show It’s Showtime.
In Monday’s special episode, the talented artist kicked off the program with an electrifying medley of songs, sharing the stage with former Tawag Ng Tanghalan contestants and judges, including Nyoy Volante, Darren Espanto, and Yeng Constantino.
For the grand finale, Sofronio delivered a moving rendition of A Million Dreams, the very song that sealed his victory on The Voice USA. The heartfelt performance left the audience in awe, reinforcing his reputation as a world-class performer.
Sofronio took a moment to reflect on his remarkable journey, attributing much of his success to Tawag Ng Tanghalan and It’s Showtime. “When I think about where it all began, I always remember how Tawag Ng Tanghalan recognized me during the auditions. That’s where it started,” he shared with visible emotion.
Vice Ganda, one of the show’s hosts, proudly hailed Sofronio as the pride of Tawag Ng Tanghalan. “His journey didn’t stop with the competition,” Vice Ganda remarked, adding, “It’s Showtime opened doors for him to grow as a vocal coach and artist.”
The Filipino singer also expressed heartfelt gratitude to his The Voice USA coach, Michael Bublé. “Coach Michael Bublé, I know you’re watching—thank you for believing in Filipino talent and guiding me,” he said sincerely.
Sofronio’s victory marked a historic milestone as he became the first Filipino and Asian to win The Voice USA. Now, he’s preparing for his highly anticipated debut solo concert in Cebu on January 18, a performance his fans are eagerly awaiting.
