Maya, a woman with a passion for knitting, embarked on a unique project – creating a model of her own house using her knitting skills.

Inspired by her accomplishment, Maya, part of a knitting circle, proposed an even more ambitious project to her friends – knitting an entire hamlet representing their community.

Meeting on Wednesdays, the women enthusiastically embraced the unconventional idea, gradually expanding their efforts. The result was a detailed knitted model of the city, featuring landmarks such as the post office, bars, shops, the old shirt factory, and flax mill around which the village had evolved.

The intricate model also includes a playground and garden plots with cauliflower planted in them. Maya’s spouse actively supported the enthusiasts by assisting in fundraising for fabrics and tools.

The village model, a masterpiece of knitted art, has garnered attention, with 1,500 people admiring this remarkable creation, a significant number considering the village’s population is only 1,000.

The passionate creators of this knitted artwork aim to raise £3,000 through their project and plan to donate the funds to a charitable organization. We extend our best wishes to these talented and charitable ladies for continued success in their admirable endeavor!
