My friend gave me a call one afternoon, asking if I could swing by and help him out. As we waited for the meat to cook, he explained how the whole idea came together. He’d always wanted a good barbecue but didn’t feel like spending hundreds on a store-bought one. So, he decided to make his own using whatever he could salvage. The fridge he had found seemed perfect. He stripped out all the electrical components, lined the interior with heat-resistant materials, and drilled ventilation holes for airflow.
As the coals began to glow and the rich smell of grilled meat filled the yard, I couldn’t help but admire his creativity. What many would have seen as a piece of scrap, he turned into something practical and impressive.
Now, his yard has become the go-to spot every weekend. We gather there, grill, laugh, and enjoy good company. All thanks to a broken refrigerator and a little bit of imagination.
