Nineteen-year-old vocalist Somer Smith experienced a mix of excitement and nerves when she learned she had been chosen to participate in the blind auditions for The Voice: Australia. Surprisingly, she had only sung in front of her family before, and now she was about to perform on TV with celebrity judges Delta Goodrem, Joe Jonas, Kelly Rowland, and Boy George.

Despite her fears, Somer decided to confront them and pursue her dream. In her pre-audition interview, her only wish was to turn at least one of the judges’ chairs. For her audition, she opted for an old Gospel hymn from 1905 – “His Eye Is on the Sparrow.”
